Manager, Processing and Infrastructure (US or Canada Offices)


Norwest is seeking a full-time Manager, Processing and Infrastructure. This position will be responsible for managing a group of discipline engineers and providing a lead technical engineering role. This position will have strong emphasis on communication and interaction with other Norwest technical, professional, and management personnel, as well as with existing and potential clients. The successful candidate will contribute to a wide variety of multi-disciplinary projects related to the energy and mining industries from due diligence and feasibility studies to operational on-site assistance.


  • Developing business with new and existing clients.
  • Preparing and contributing to proposals, cost estimates, and schedules for process and multi-discipline projects.
  • Mentoring and supporting staff.
  • Tracking costs and hours for projects.
  • Contributing to a wide variety of multi-disciplinary projects related to the energy and mining industries from due diligence and feasibility studies to operational on-site assistance.
  • Reviewing, assessing, and interpreting select mining and geology data to develop mineral and metallurgical processes and testing programs.
  • Preparing capital and operating cost estimates.
  • Developing, writing, and reviewing technical reports.
  • Conducting client presentations, including report submissions and project updates.
  • Providing metallurgical and mineral processing consulting expertise to Norwest’s global clients.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Experience with mineral processing and metallurgical operations and projects obtained through operational and engineering roles.
  • Strong computer skills focusing on Microsoft products, including process-specific applications, such as CAD and 3D design software and process simulation software, developed through operations or consulting experience.
  • Experience in project planning, development, and process operations at a mine.
  • Strong English verbal and technical writing skills, including experience in writing proposals and technical reports.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally to support projects, marketing activities, and client needs.
  • Candidates with coal, trona, potash, and phosphate industry experience will be given priority consideration.
  • Ability to speak a second language will be given priority consideration.

Education and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Metallurgical, Chemical, Mineral Processing, or Mining Engineering or a related engineering degree.
  • Minimum of 15 years’ post university experience working in the mining industry, with experience in technical and/or management roles.
  • Eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer (P.E. or P.Eng.).  

Location of Employment

This position will be based in one of our United States offices – Salt Lake City, UT; Charleston, WV; or Denver, CO. There may also be an option for this position to be based in our Vancouver or Calgary offices.
